My classroom is designed for students on the lower end of the autism spectrum. This means they have difficulty communicating with others, socializing with others and using their senses to process the world around them. For them, learning and socializing are challenges they face on a daily basis. My students are unable to be taught in a typical classroom because of their unique learning styles and challenges. They need things like weighted vest, communication pictures, frequent movement breaks, think time areas, widgets and fidgets that can be distracting to their peers.
We are in a Title I school where it is 100% reduced/free lunch and breakfast. My students come from poor neighborhoods where they do not have access to a lot of the items that they need to face the challenges home life can bring.
My students are curious and intelligent in their own unique ways. They love to learn new things regardless of the challen
