My students are STARS. The students are from an urban school district located in South Carolina. The school is designated as a Title One school. More than 90 percent of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The students come from a variety of backgrounds. Many are latch key kids or classified as "families living with families." However, they are excited about learning, even when faced with adversities. The students are hands-on learners. They like to see, feel, touch and make connections with the things we study. They dream. They dream BIG. They are equipped with self-confidence fostered by the learning environment of the classroom. Many may arrive at school hungry, troubled, misguided, confused, etc, but they leave over-flowing with knowledge and excited about what the future, or next day of instruction, will bring. My students are winners. They win everyday as they press forward to excel in their studies and their motivation to learn propels them forward in life.
