I teach art at a high poverty high school. Our student body is composed of everything from severe/profound special education students to gifted students and everything in between.
For the past five years, I have hosted an event at my school called Chalkfest. Chalkfest is a day in the spring when 50-60 students spend the day recreating masterpieces of art on the concrete in front of the main building. For the art kids at my school, Chalkfest is considered their Christmas!
