"There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what he cannot do." - Temple Grandin
Not only are my students faced with the challenges of a low income neighborhood, but they have also been diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Students on the autism spectrum often have incredible special interests and talents that become overshadowed by the demand to be "normal." My passion for teaching this population is to help these students discover these interests so I can teach through them to help them gain the appropriate social skills and education as their peers.
