The use of dramatic play in my pre-k classroom will enhance the development of my students' social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language areas. I want to be able to change the center at least 6 times throughout the school year, giving my students multiple opportunities to engage in role play of different scenes.
In order for my students to truly benefit from our dramatic play center, I need to "set the stage" as close to real life as possible.
By having costumes and props pertaining to a restaurant, a hospital, an airport, a pizzeria, a doctor's office and more, along with nonfiction books about those community helpers, my students will have an inviting, creative area where they can use their imagination to immediately take on a role and begin pretending.
