Our classroom takes students on voyages to distant lands, foreign cultures, and historical events. The overall goal is to create an increasing number of culturally literate, global citizens.
The broadness of our requisite educational concepts affords a great flexibility in how we may engage our students in their learning experience. We promote greater individual autonomy, and differentiated experiences that students can take part in and ownership of their academics and personal identity.
Basic and perpetual resources used include: colored pencils for maps and visualization of cultural events. Markers for creating banners and posters. A roll of butcher paper for them to unroll their creative streak outside of a box of printer paper.
Help unleash the creative potential of social studies in funding this endeavor, and providing more of a hands-on approach to student-centered learning.
