My students are energetic, fascinating, and eager to learn. I am a fifth-year teacher in a K to 7 urban, public school. We serve a student population that is 98% African American and 2% Anglo-American. 86.3% of the student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch, and over 10% receive Special Education Services. I am the school based Middle School Science and Math lead. It is a high needs area of instruction in a high needs school. The students I work with have been identified as having various disabilities, and because of this they sometimes struggle academically. I want to provide them with opportunities to feel successful, and I believe the use of technology can really help with this. Even if they are performing below grade level in reading and math, my students thrive when engaged in learning via electronics and when well supplied.
