We are a Special Education Program in San Mateo that serves students with moderate to severe disabilities who are not able to go to school in their own districts due to the severity of their needs. My students consist of individuals whose age range from 14-22 years old and whose disabilities range from autism to multiple handicap. They have shown good progress in vocational activities and eagerness to learn more about life skills. However, their special learning needs challenge their ability to understand abstract concepts such as lecture-type learning. With your help, we can provide them with the hands-on learning in vocational education that will assist them in building a strong foundation in their future life roles as productive adults.
