Three and four year old students learn through play. As a teacher, it is my job to allow the students to explore and learn in a structured setting, make "work" feel like playtime, and all the while encourage communication and self-growth. The materials you can help provide will directly impact student learning by making my job more feasible.
Read-aloud centers with engaging stories expose yet another way students learn to love to read. Kids hear silly voices tell age-appropriate timeless stories as they learn to track print and follow along with a book. They listen to me talk all day, the CD gives them independence to read along without adult support. I have requested music by Greg and Steve because children learn self-confidence and self-control through dance and hand motions. Many songs on the CD include bean bag toss n catch songs. A class set of beanbags will be used for following directions, color identification, body part recognition (i.e. put your bean bag on your head, elbow, belly, etc.) and team work.
The art easel, paints, stamp pads, and stencils will be put into my nearly non-existent art center. A "starter kit" of art supplies is necessary for preschool! I have purchased my own paint and markers and construction paper but supplies do not last long! Please help! The supply caddies will make logistics of storing/transporting materials from table to table easier and encourage more child independence in clean-up. The child-safe scissors are necessary to teach fine motor control and add to the variety of lessons I can give the students throughout the school day. Finally, the write 'n wipe boards and pocket charts/pocket stand are great tools for me, so I can portray lessons and demonstrate handwriting skills. Please help!
