My elementary students range from 3rd-5th grade and all of my students have an IEP for special education . My students have Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Specific Learning Disabilities including Dyslexia and Other Health Impairments. I do Direct Instruction with my students and intensive interventions with other students outside of my classroom.
My school is a public Title 1 school, UCP Osceola Charter School in Kissimmee, FL. 85% of our students in our K-5th grade program. We have an inclusion model so all students regardless of their disability can learn with their nondisabled peers. This is not a model many schools or districts follow in Florida. We have high quality instruction every day along with necessary IEP interventions daily.
