It is imperative that children understand food groups and the difference between healthy and non-healthy foods in order to make healthy options. Once they learn what a healthy plate looks like, they will be able to create their own.
Representatives from Local Matters will come and teach healthy eating, healthy cooking and encourage the students to create their own gardens at home.
The students will gain knowledge through hands-on activities related to food. They will also learn about the various cultures from around the world and create a dish from that country. The program of interest incorporates both teacher-led and student-led instruction.
