Experience in teaching the children of California since 1990 has taught me much. Kids are enthusiastic and want to learn. I have taught in three districts and have found that kids are more similar than different. They keep me wanting to challenge them, guide them and inspire them to dream of their futures. The kids in my classes have been eager to learn and delightful to work with. Challenges also exist that keep the teaching staff on their toes and me working late often. Challenges with learning a new language, with getting along and with overcoming disabilities are a few examples of challenges in the teaching arena. Along with the challenges come the joys of teaching. This year an e-mail from a parent on the last day of school made all my hard work pay off. The mother thanked me, and was overjoyed that her son, who struggled, had started asking for books instead of toys!! What can I say, I love to teach !
