We have some older students in grades 4-6 who are not reading at grade level. We have books for them, but reading is not a valuable free time activity so they choose not to. Thus they continue to fall behind as the growth that practice provides is not being fostered at home. We believe these students would read if they could use an e-reader. These students are very motivated by technology, it engages them, and having access to books loaded into a Nook will give us a hook to get them reading and gaining the skills they need to be successful in all academic areas.
