My students come from diverse backgrounds and with that come an array of abilities, skills and talents. Not all are scientifically inclined, but I would say that all can learn and benefit from science--once they are motivated and engaged in the process.
My school has a high number of students who are ESOL, ELL and there are a few who are SPED and gifted. Even though we have to cater for and adapt to such a wide range of learning needs, we know that all children will learn if given the right tools and technology (and teachers who care). At the moment, I am spearheading an incentive program to encourage students to work on their math, reading and science skills on their own at home, using a computer program called i-Ready.
