Some of my students are refugees from war torn countries, as my city is one of the ten gateway cities in the US for entering the United States. Others come from very low socioeconomic homes, and some are even homeless.
There are 38 different languages spoken at my school, and art is a fantastic way to help new immigrants feel more comfortable assimilating into the school because it is a universal language. Art is also a great way to encourage the young Graffiti artists to create legal masterpieces instead of hurried vandalism. This sketchbook would help every student keep all of their work in one place, attached and safe, and give them the option of continuing their practice at home.
