My students are searching for more. They are seeking love, academic excellence, and social acceptance. Each day brings a new set of challenges, but in our classroom we try and turn them into learning experiences for our whole class family. I remind my students daily that they are loved and cared about and our class is the safest place they will be day in and day out. We push for academic excellence but we also fight for strong social development and fight to overcome the stereotypes that they have not asked for. We use technology and personal connections to apply our academic knowledge to real life scenarios. We have a computer lab in the building and a laptop cart, however, they are often monopolized and do not seem to offer us enough screen time. Last year, my students learned how to type and start the basic computer skills and they loved every minute of our technology time. In addition, this year I would like to introduce them to different technologies.
