We have over 1200 students and over half qualify for free or reduced lunch.
My Physics equipment needs are not consumable, so even with a small class some years my equipment for demos and lab experiences can touch the lives of many students for many years to come. My Physics classes are usually 15-20 students with about equal male and female students. The school has both rural students and those that live in the more urban area of the neighboring large city. Most of my students, being Physics students, do aspire to attend college. For most of these students they will be the first generation of college students in their family.
I also do outreach to my school's five feeder elementary and middle schools. Therefore much of my equipment also finds it way into demo shows for K-8 grades. I do all I can to make science engaging, fun and a class students want to take. I start that process early with this outreach.
