Students will be developing social and cultural skills to understand and respect cultural and social differences. These skills will enhance their understanding of the complex world we live in today by learning and developing an appreciation for other cultures.
Students will learn to use their creative communication skills to work in small groups to plant their Lucky bamboo. Students have struggled these last couple of years and are desperate for social connection and a hands-on way to express themselves.
Bamboo has long been known as the Chinese symbol of strength due to its fast growth and resilience. Lucky bamboo symbolizes the wish for a strong life filled with prosperity. Students will have the opportunity to appreciate other customs, traditions, and habits of people from another country. Learning about different cultures can assist with avoiding being misinterpreted—or worse, offending someone.
