My students are comprised of 22 students from a host of ethnic backgrounds. We are a small school located in East Oakland, California. Because of our school's socioeconomic background we are a Title 1 school with a 100% free school lunch program. The majority of my students come from non-contemporary home environments which have little or no access to technology. These students are limited to what they experience at school.
We currently only have 2 computers in our classroom, however we are a sharing community and the students use the computers according to a schedule that I have created for them. A printer would truly enhance our class' technology capabilities and allow them to grow as writers and ultimately readers.
