Kindergarten students are busy, active beings. Planning for all day kindergarten requires teachers to have many varied activities throughout the day. The children need hands on materials...to touch and play with..to help them learn best. Young children learn best through play. These materials will engage students in playing and learning. The children will use the manipulatives during independent reading and math centers. These independent centers allows the teacher to work with other small groups and specific skills they need to succeed. Learning to read and do math can be child’s play when students have manipulatives to work with in kindergarten. I have selected some light table toys that include numbers and letters for the students to use at a center to make works or number stories. The tens frames will be used frequently for math so that children can see all the combinations for making ten.
