Many of the students have difficulty concentrating which is why flexible seating is so important. Wobble cushions, fidget bands and bean bag chairs will help provide the students with the seating they need to be able to reach their full potential.
Play gives students a chance to practice what they are learning. It is so important to provide them with a variety of materials to play and experiment with. Play also provides students with a chance to work on their social and emotional development. This is why I am requesting toys and dress up items to be used in centers for the students to play and learn with.
Finally, without developmentally appropriate learning materials it is near impossible for students to be able to reach their full potential. Without beginner pencils many students have trouble writing which causes frustration and leads to behavior challenges. A timer is also important to help reduce frustrations. Students do better when they can see how much time they have left working on an assignment, or playing in centers. That way it does not come as a surprise when time is up and they need to transition to a new activity.
