My students attend a small, semi-rural, public middle school in West Virginia. Many of them do not have the money to buy their own materials, and I have found myself reaching down deeper into my pockets to provide items such as pencils and paper. The downturn in the coal industry has be detrimental to our school system's budget and has left the teachers seeking resources from other areas. I have been trying to incorporate a lot of different types of activities since our school system sent our science textbooks out for recycling before purchasing new ones which we cannot buy now. Any and all supplies and resources that I can purchase for my students is a great help.
