Our high school is a Title 1 school which means it is composed of students from homes in a lower socioeconomic, fairly concentrated poverty area. Our school is composed of a magnet program of computer animation and design, which was voted on by the community. Students enter our school with an interest in computer animation, film, and design but may have deficits in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. The beauty of the magnet program is that it incorporates the students interests while granting them the opportunity to strengthen their writing and reading skills. Students are required to write scripts, briefs, as well as develop storyboards. Students in my classes are there by choice, and that makes it feel like a college atmosphere where students are intent on learning more about these subjects that they've chosen. Its also is great for productivity and attitude because my students are genuinely interested in the content.
