The school where I teach is a very small middle school in Tennessee. All of our students qualify for free and reduce lunch. The entirety of the school is African American and Hispanic descents. All of my students have learning disabilities and behavior problems. My students are functioning at least four years or more below grade level. As a teacher, I am faced with the challenges of improving reading and comprehension skills. My students are struggling with reading comprehension, word recognition and word exposure. I would like for them to have a reading center to use independently or in small group. This listening center will be used to increase comprehension, word exposure, word recognition and fluency.
