Technology, STEM thinking, and computer skills are such essentials to our everyday life as adults; but yet, many young students are missing even the basics of these "life essentials". By providing my students with hands on technology that they can use in the classroom such as the Code & Go Mouse and the Osmo coding kit, I am not only introducing an element of fun and technology into our busy daily schedule, but more importantly, giving my students a hands-on and real life experience with coding, direction following, and technology. By proving my students with these resources I am not only helping to foster a love and greater knowledge of technology, but also the notion of teamwork, cooperation, perseverance, and real-life technology integration. The skills gained from having these coding and STEM resources in the hands of my 2nd graders will help to open their minds to new possibilities, encourage new ways of thinking, and most importantly; continue to foster their love of learning!
