I am a first year teacher with very little funding. My goal is to immerse the students through their senses in different cultures. As a result, I want the classroom to look and represent as many cultures as possible in a cohesive way.
I want the students to also be able to create art, act out, play and learn about these different cultures in order to grow their world view and be one that is more accepting and understanding. For example, I want them to create their own Beijing opera mask. I also want them to go and play soccer as child from Costa Rica would. I want them to learn how a student in Africa learns. Overall, I want them to experience the beauties and the struggles of the world and teach them how important it is to give back and impact these communities starting with your own and expanding outwards to others.
In order to achieve this goal effectively I will need certain supplies and items. I want to create a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in my classroom which enables learning, experiences and educational fun.
