I want to be a teacher who fosters my students' curiosity and pushes them to learn content in a variety of ways. My students have minimal technology access weekly, but they soak it up like sponges! They are learning to type, make Google docs, and use Google drive. Only having computers once a week puts them at such a huge disadvantage to students who are privileged to have daily access.
Chromebooks would have a profound impact by giving students access to the most up-to-date information, increasing their time on interactive learning websites, and encouraging project-based learning where they can easily collaborate with each other. Rather than look up information in outdated encyclopedias, they could use online sources for reports and answers to their never-ending questions. We would regularly be able to utilize our accounts for IXL Math and Kahn Academy, individualized and interactive programs. Websites like Storybird would be used to create fables and tall tales, as we learn about those genres. There is a whole world out there of learning that these Chromebooks would allow us to step into daily! With technology I know I can fuel their drive to learn, create, and collaborate.
