Our school is a Title I school and a lot of my students do not have access to nice quality books. My personal classroom book collection lacks diversity; and I would like to bring in a diverse collection of books to my students.
I need diverse books so my students can connect to characters, stories and challenges that they can relate to.
Reading is a very important part of our school day. It has the power to bring people together for discussions that can open minds and hearts to the experiences of others. Having a diverse book collection, which my classroom lacks, can help my super readers discover the joy and value in reading and become proficient, passionate readers while being able to connect their personal experiences and culture through a diverse book collection.
