In my 4/5 combo classroom, I have the privilege of working with a diverse group of English learners who share a love for reading. With students across different grade levels and language proficiencies, the classroom is a dynamic space where they learn from each other’s perspectives. Their curiosity drives them to explore a variety of genres, from exciting adventures to thought-provoking nonfiction. Whether reading independently, in small groups, or through interactive read-alouds, they engage deeply with texts that spark their imaginations and build language skills. The enthusiasm for stories fosters a collaborative learning environment, where every voice is valued and diverse backgrounds enrich our conversations about books. It’s a place where reading becomes a shared, enriching experience for all.
