I work as an art teacher in an urban Indiana Public school which serves a large population of students with Autism. We have a talented community of students and faculty that show a great amount of love and respect for one another. As a new teacher to this school, currently without an art budget, I am looking for ways to give my students a lasting and positive impression of art class.
My Autistic students vary in age from 4-13. Every student could benefit from the arts, especially in areas like: fine motor skill development, cooperation, identification, and communication. The more productive time students spend in art with specific materials the more they can develop these all too important skills
