Because my students are predominately poor and many non English speaking, the ease of interactive note books will help them to understand the material better. Students will complete worksheets and teacher led notes as a class with the teacher. Then we will cut out the notes and paste them in the notebook.
With interactive notebooks, students can cut and paste teacher led notes into their notebooks. This provides hands on experience and engagement so that they will understand the concept being taught better.
The note book will broken into three sections. The first section is the vocabulary section. By the end of the school year, the students will have over 100 new vocabulary words which is pivotal since so many are non English speakers. The second section will be notes. This is where the students will paste their teacher led notes for at home study. The final section will be the Passport Journal. As the students travel the world in 180 Days, we will journal our experiences which helps to improve our writing skills. The journal entries will be used as starters for the essays that the students will write about the unit.
