My students are an extremely culturally diverse melting pot representing over ten nationalities and speaking more than five different languages. The rest of my students are neighborhood families of low to moderate socio-economic income of mixed races. They are enthusiastic learners and just need a chance.
Over the past few years, we have had an influx of migrant workers whose children have come to us without regularly attending school. This poses language barriers that can impede the learning process.
Many of my students also have academic difficulties which require specific curriculum modifications. They are all capable of learning; it is a matter of meeting their individual needs by using different learning strategies.
