My urban third and fourth graders come to school with a passion for science and its hands on nature. Science gives them an opportunity to explore and experience the world around them. They have many questions about how to connect and understand their environment. It is a joy to watch their eyes widen and listen to their conversations as they build a water wheel, dissect a squid, and design projects using magnets to separate metals from trash. They are a diverse group of students who love a challenge, such as creating models of different parts of the eye. They need opportunities to socialize their intelligence and learn actively. I strive to provide authentic and engaging interactions. They just eat it up!
