"The sun goes down, the stars come out..."
My students are sponges. They absorb vocabulary and language throughout their experiences in my classroom. These 4th graders work hard to learn new subject area content at the same time as a new language! We use language, writing, pictures, and posters so that our students can succeed. The student population is about 60% native Spanish speaking students acquiring English, and 40% native English speakers acquiring Spanish. Our school district has a complete range of socioeconomic backgrounds, in every classroom. My room is home to a diverse mixture of ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Students from different cultures learn about each other and are working together to becoming bilingual and bi-literate.
