Whiteboards are a great learning tool in my classroom, especially during math. During small or whole group instruction, students can come to the carpet bringing their boards and markers to do problems given to them. I am able to quickly check and see what each student is doing, and help guide them in the right direction all in one place. The problem is that the whiteboards and markers my students currently have are smeared, dried out, and not very useful. They were handed down from the previous teacher, and have been used by many students!
By placing new whiteboards and dry erase markers into the hands of each of my 24 students, they will be able to work out math problems or answer quick questions without the frustration of dried out markers, or boards that won’t erase. With the flip side boards, the students will be able to quickly write down answers to multiple choice questions and hold them up with ease to be checked. These will be perfect for those times that they do not need a lot of space, and we are just checking for understanding, while the lap boards will be perfect for those more difficult multiplication or division problems requiring more work!
