Homeroom is the only scheduled time of day where students and teachers get the opportunity to bond outside of the academic content focused on the rest of the day. With my students starting one of the more challenging years in their high school journey, it is important that this time is used to foster relationships and bonding with one another.
The journals I have selected will give students the opportunity to engage in creativity within art and writing by using each page from the 'Wreck it Journal' as a prompt for each morning. Rather than use a typical journal and freewriting, this journal will allow them to be more creative and to share with one another our creations.
This project will help us use homeroom time to get to know one another and start our days off interactively as we 'wreck our journals' every morning.
