I teach at a low-income school in the San Francisco Mission District. I wouldn't want to teach anywhere else. My students are exuberant and full of the desire to learn. Even though most of their lives they have used pencil and paper to learn, they are still joyful learners.
The students at my school are mainly Latino and the community which surrounds the school has deep roots in Latin America. We are a bilingual school and if you come to our school, you will see children learning and discussing their learning in both English and Spanish.
