Our school is finally a 1:1 ratio school for computers to students. This allows me to have full-time access to Chromebooks in the classroom. As students are always looking for new forms of stimuli and technological engagement, I have been working to implement my form of a "Flipped Classroom," where students are able use technology to learn at their own pace, go beyond the lecture and the homework, and find new and exciting resources to accomplish a goal.
Providing headphones to my students gives them the ability to interact with online resources such as YouTube, Discovery Education, and Khan Academy, giving them opportunities to dive into the topics independently and go beyond the classroom environment. Individual headphones would provide a way for my students to become independent learners and use technology for education and not only for standardized testing.
