Flexible seating options benefit all students, but particularly benefit and are often necessary for special education students. Children need to move and learn how their bodies learn best. I teach in a K-2 cluster program. Cluster programs are designed for students requiring a significantly modified curriculum with moderate to intensive supports in a separate classroom from general education peers for the majority of the day. Flexible seating options allow my students to wobble, rock, and bounce to help keep their young minds alert and focused. Flexible seating helps regulate student's bodies and allows for increased critical thinking and collaboration.
