Every year our school has a moving up ceremony for our Pre-K students and families. Each year we have been blessed to have the finances to cover for all materials. However, this year has been a struggle and unfortunately we do not have the resources that we need to celebrate. Our Moving Up Barbecue event this is our last family engagement which has proven through the years to be successful event. This golden opportunity helps bring families together. We provide food (sandwich, burgers) snacks (snack box consist of potato chips, cookies granola bars and drinks.) Most of my families live in temporary housing and they look forward to these events as well as connecting with the teachers, administration and other families in similar situations. This maybe their only outlet the barbecue breaks away walls that parents put up in order not to allow anyone close. However listening to music playing with the children and eating Good food always provides happiness.
I believe strongly that while breaking bread ( no matter what type) brings togetherness, conversation and great company. With our barbecue we bring parents and their children together. No T.V. games or phones just food and play time. Quality time spent with each other. A memory that will last forever. Priceless!!!!!!
