Most students are ESOL and recent arrivals from low-income families. They usually live with their mom, who often works almost the whole day or overnight jobs hoping to sustain the family and make enough money to send back to their prospective countries. My students are sometimes are responsible for their other siblings, cousins, etc who live with them.
