I have 3 classes of 35 students each. They are from the highest poverty level and most students don't even know where their next meal is coming from let alone who wrote Great Expectations. I had one student tell me he couldn't even print his paper until his mom got her next paycheck so they could buy ink. That's when the thought popped in my mind, what if they use the money they need to eat for a paper that I assigned? I knew I needed to act and get them the supplies they needed to exceed.
