My 6th - 8th grade science students have been actively engaged in service projects to raise awareness in our school and community about plastic pollution, and its solutions.
Many of them are inspired to reduce their own use of single-use plastics, but cannot afford to purchase the reusable items to get them started. Their passion and enthusiasm for making a difference in their own lives, and in their community has been galvanizing!
Our school also has a Green Team that has worked hard to reduce waste at our school, including switching our cafeteria to reusable trays and utensils, installing a water bottle filling station, implementing a composting program in our cafeteria, and planting native plants to attract pollinators in our school garden.
