Flexible, versatile, and inviting seating will play a pivotal role in attracting our high school students and staff into the media center to read, work in peer groups, and utilize our collaborative tech spaces to share and showcase their work.
Students have requested comfortable, modern furniture that can be moved around easily to use in the collaborative work and tech areas they've already designed this year.
The big goal this year was to take the Media Center from one large space with a generic set up (book shelves, large conference table area, computer lab, etc) into many smaller spaces that can be used by a lot of different students and groups simultaneously. So far this year, students have made six 'mini' areas around the perimeter of the large seating area. The two most popular of these are set up like lounges with seating at the back, shelves on the sides, and Apple TVs (both generously donated) at the front. Currently, students are making the most out of the existing wooden furniture and plastic chairs we have and have re-purposed other pieces of furniture but believe new seating would reinvigorate the spaces with a modern feel.
This reception set selected and requested by the students because of its versatility and style would help us transform our Media Center into a more modern, welcoming, and comfortable area for students and staff.
