My scholars are 33 energetic sixth grade GATE students. They are a group that has been together since second grade, and are about to embark on a new journey into middle school. They are a passionate, kind, and resilient bunch that perseveres even through difficult situations. They are eager to learn, and have recently found their own voice in an effort to speak up against social injustices. This year, they have strengthened their technological abilities, and are learning to integrate new components of media into presentations and projects. My school has started and arts program that teaches students dance, signing, art, computer programing, and various musical instruments both throughout the day and after school. While the students are excited to learn the new programing elements, they are held back due to the fact that they don't have the necessary tools to take their progress to the next level.
