My students need flexible seating options to support their love for learning. By having more options for my students to work, I will be able to better meet the needs of all of the learners in my class.
More seating options equal increased engagement, motivation, and learning. I began to implement flexible seating in my classroom last school year by purchasing four scoop rocking chairs to test out the idea. The kids fell in love with these seats. They were able to better focus on their work and as a result achieved more with their learning. However, only having four rocker chairs available didn't leave my other 14 students with many options to sit. I would love for all of my students to have a comfortable spot to learn.
By offering bouncy ball seats, stools, wobble chairs, lap desks, yoga mats, and beach chairs my students will not have to fight over who gets to sit where. So long to hearing "I got here first!" They will each be able to choose a spot that is comfortable for them. By offering choices, students have total control over their learning. There is a direct connection between student choice and learning. Many of these seating options will especially meet the needs of my students with focusing issues. Bouncy balls and wiggling seats are the perfect solutions to get all of the wiggles out while simultaneously getting their work done.
Donations to this project will give my students a chance to thrive in all areas. It is my dream for my students to become lifelong learners and fulfill all of the desires that they may have in life. Having more seating options in my classroom will help fulfill my dreams and more importantly the dreams of my students.
