What I know for sure is that relationship matters and the student -teacher relationship very much so.
Research in neuroscience shows convincingly and repeatedly how emotions and relationships drive learning. Creating an emotionally safe environment requires schools and classrooms where strong,
affirming relationships are built among adults
and children. One way to achieve this is through the arena of play/games. Through play teachers can foster relationships with their student in a non-threatening, informal manner. Such a setting can assist both the student and teacher in seeing each other in a different light, foster conversations, make learning and teaching easier and complement the academic skills being taught.
