My 6-8th grade design students all reside in an urban environment. A majority of them come from underprivileged neighborhoods that have high rates of poverty. Over 90% of my students come from low income families. Our school is an IB academy that promotes inquiry based learning with a global perspective in mind. My students greatly appreciate all of the learning opportunities that they have access to at my school. Many of them travel many miles from different parts of the city to have access to the rigorous education that our school offers. My students love to engage in interactive learning that incorporates their input and allows them to take ownership of their learning.
