With the hear rate monitors, students will be able to collect quantitative measurements, analyze data, and draw conclusions about the role heart rate plays as a vital sign.
Students will place their feet in a bucket of ice-cold water and monitor their heart rate.
Students will also design their own experiment to see how different external stimulus affects heart rate.
After these science experiments, students will learn about Wilderness First Aid. They will use what they learn about heart rate to be able to make accurate assessments about their patient's conditions when we do 'mock' first aid scenarios. This science experiment is one part of our current unit studying Human Body Systems.
