I can see in their eyes that they have many ideas. Ideas about what the world is like around them. With my help and the help of these supplies, the children can use the paper and watercolors to let me know what they are thinking about. Right now, they are drawing pictures of their moms because they miss them. With your supplies, they will have more of a choice of what color paper and crayons they want to use. Three year olds don’t get too many choices at this age. We read a story for a week or more. At the end I will ask them to draw a picture about what they know about that story. With the supplies I will be able to check for comprehension if they tell me about the story. They will see the words they say in written form. All the beginnings of literacy.
